Liverpool host Chelsea in an all-important fixture on matchday 34 of the Premier League
The last time Liverpool contested for the Premier League title in the 2013-14 season, it was Chelsea that crushed their title hopes with a 2-0 win at Anfield. Chelsea themselves are in another race, for a top-four finish, and will look for similar motivation, this time, that got them the win at Anfield 5 years ago.
Joe Gomez returned to the squad and will be in contention to play this weekend. Andrew Robertson is most likely to return to the left-back position ahead of James Milner after serving a one-match European ban against Porto. Naby Keita will have to make way for Wijnaldum who was rested in midweek.
Maurizio Sarri rested a host of key players during their midweek game against Slavia Praha, and is likely to have the lot fresh for Sunday’s clash. Marcos Alonso impressed on his return to the squad after a hamstring injury which might leave Sarri with some thinking to do.
Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Lovren, van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Henderson, Wijnaldum; Salah, Mane, Firmino
Arrizabalaga; Azpilicueta, Rudiger, Luiz, Emerson; Jorginho, Kante, Loftus-Cheek; Hazard, Hudson-Odoi, Higuain
SCORE PREDICTION: Liverpool 2 – 1 Chelsea
Chelsea have slowly found their feet after a good run of three Premier League wins in a row, and will look to take their shot against a Liverpool team that is in stunning form at the moment. They have been a tad bit shaky at the back in recent times, and Chelsea will look to exploit that, but a win for Chelsea in front of the Kop seems distant.
