Bayern Munich are scheduled to host the second leg of the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League match against LIverpool at home. The first game ended in a goalless stalemate. Both sides had some chances but neither were able to capitalize. Bayern Munich failed to have a single shot on target. This was the first time this happened for the Bavarians since 2015 in the UCL.
Liverpool is sitting 2nd in the EPL while Bayern Munich tops the Bundesliga. Both sides have players in the leaderboards of their respective leagues. Both Salah and Mane’ are among the top goal-scorers in the Premier League while Lewandowski sits on top in the Bundesliga. As is evident from the stats, most players from both teams are in monstrous form.
History is not fully on Bayern’s side as they only won one of their eight matches against the Reds in European competitions, way back in 1971. On the glass half full side for Bayern, they have reached the quarterfinals in the UCL for the last seven years and will be looking to up that tally. Meanwhile, Liverpool, so close to lifting the Championship last season will be looking to go for gold again.
Manuel Neuer is set to be the sixth goalkeeper to reach 100 UCL games, joining the likes of Casillas, Buffon, Cech, Valdes and Kahn. Bayern are in a bit of a bind with a few usuals set to miss the game. Thomas Muller and Joshua Kimmich, their key playmaker and assist-leader, are suspended. Robben and Tolisso are out on injury. Niko Kovac is almost certain to let Rafinha fill the Joshua Kimmich-shaped void for Bayern. Mats Hummels might start after his return at the weekend.
The jury is cautiously optimistic on the returns of James Milner and Trent Alexander-Arnold as both are recovering from muscle issues. Lovren has a chance of starting, being benched on the Burnley game. Van Dijk will look to make his mark after missing the first leg on suspension. Adam Lallana could start the game because of a recent spike in form. Some central midfield changes are possible. Fabinho could be moved up the field after filling in at centre-back till now. On the bright side, Liverpool do not have any suspension woes.

SCORE PREDICTION: Bayern Munich 1 - 2 Liverpool
Both are undefeated in the last 5 games but the Bayern suspensions and Liverpool’s brilliant individual player forms give the Reds the slight edge going into the game.
